TIMIŞOARA Easter Traditions in Banat

Many ethnic groups who live or have lived in Banat over time have left their mark on local traditions, whether it is religious customs or not.

So referring to the Banat Easter customs are interspersed with many cultures and each has taken over from other parties who have liked more.

An important day is considered to be Holy Thursday, when the holy Roman Catholic churches oils for the sick, christenings etc.. Mass of the Last Supper, the night is washing legs.

There is a legend that says Banat villages on this day a female mythological character called Joimăriţa, wander through the villages and they punished the girls who finished their spinning wool, and on the lazy get them at home and eat them.
